As you may know, Hurricane Rita made landfall at 2:30 a.m. between Lake Charles, Louisiana and Port Arthur, Texas. Nacogdoches Medical Center experienced heavy winds and rain and is currently operating on full power. Additional security was obtained to assist as needed through the storm and will remain on-site through the weekend.
We hope that you and your family remained safe during the storm. Special thanks to the hospital’s staff and management who worked effortlessly to adequately prepare for the safety of our patients, employees and physicians.

Nacogdoches Medical Center is currently implementing its severe weather plan in preparation for Hurricane Rita’s landfall. Part of this planning involves, evacuating critically ill patients to help ensure that they receive the level of care needed, as well as stocking essential supplies. Our hospital will remain open and in operation.
If you need emergency services please call 911 and we hope that you and your family stay safe during the hurricane.

ATTENTION EMPLOYEES
You may contact the Employee Emergency Information Line at 877-208-3638 for a recorded message giving any necessary information regarding hospital condition and staffing needs.
The hospital is currently operating under a Code Yellow status of our severe weather plan – which indicates staffing for 12-hour shifts.
Patient care staff will remain on 12-hour shifts for the weekend. Support and ancillary personnel will be released at 4 p.m. September 24 pending approval from incident command.
The hospital lock-down will continue until 6 a.m. September 25. Employees without badges must enter through the Cancer Center entrance.
The 10 a.m. Sunday department manager meeting is cancelled. Managers please advise incident command of your operational plan.
