Primary Stroke Center

According to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, stroke is the No. 5 cause of death and a leading cause of adult disability in the United States. On average, someone in the U.S. suffers a stroke every 40 seconds and nearly 795,000 people suffer a new or recurrent stroke each year. As the only hospital in Nacogdoches certified as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission, we know Time=Brain. Our Stroke team has met specific quality measures essential to reduce the time between the patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment with the clot-buster tissue plasminogen activator, or tPA, the only drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat ischemic stroke.

Level II Special Care Nursery Designation from the Department of State Health Services

Every parent hopes their baby is born healthy, but when complications arise, experience and timing are critical; that’s why we are here, to provide your baby a higher level of care when it’s needed. Since NMC’s NICU opened in May of 2016, board certified neonatologists have been available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week to provide the expertise and compassionate care required to treat premature and critically-ill newborns. Equipped with advanced technology and an integrated developmental care approach, the 8-bed Level II NICU was the first of its kind to open in Nacogdoches.
