Acerca de Marcia Nelson
Marcia Dee Nelson, MS, RN, CNM, IBCLC has over four decades of experience caring for women and babies. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Texas Woman’s University and her Master of Science at Stony Brook University. As a young nurse in Houston, she was fortunate to be part of the infancy of nurse-midwifery as a profession in the State of Texas. While working at Jeff Davis Hospital in Houston, Texas, she was first exposed to certified nurse-midwives. This experience inspired her to complete the Nurse-Midwifery Certificate Program at Baylor College of Medicine. After becoming a certified nurse-midwife, she was hired by the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where she conducted the first certified nurse-midwifery birth at John Sealy Hospital. Nelson has not stopped being a trailblazer in nursemidwifery. She has continued to inspire future nurses and nurse-midwives as an educator at Stephen F. Austin State University. She also has started her own nursemidwifery practice, delivering at Nacogdoches Medical Center. Nelson is married to Family Nurse-Practitioner Scott Nelson and mother to two adult children, who were both delivered at home.

Marcia Nelson is a wonderful health care provider and I will go to her clinic for as long as I am within reasonable driving distance. She is careful, patient, professional, interpersonal, comforting, gentle during procedures, and very intelligent/knowledgeable to answer any questions I have. She always remembers me even between year long visits, and she proves she genuinely cares about the livelihood and wellbeing of her patients.

I have already recommended my care provider to others before. I love her attitude, and I can understand her concern for my decisions but once I informed her of why, she was completely understanding and agreed with my course of action. She always provides alternatives and assures that her door is open, and I really appreciate that. She's been my favorite gyno I've ever had.

Dr. Nelson is, and always has been amazing. She is so helpful, and she is aware of any discomfort that may come from any exams or conversations. She is genuine, and I wouldn't consider switching my women's doctor to anyone else.

Everyone at the clinic is very friendly, and makes a naturally uncomfortable environment, comfortable. No girl in their 20s enjoys going for their annual exam, but the staff make it much more comfortable.
