Dr. Garcia was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, where he obtained his MD in 1995. He then completed an Internal Medicine Internship/Residency as well as a Rheumatology Fellowship at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2003. Following completion of his training, he practiced in Laredo, TX at a community health center for 10 years.
In October 2013, Dr. Garcia moved to Nacogdoches and began practicing at Nacogdoches Rheumatology. He is accompanied by his wife Alejandra, and two children, Elena and Rogelio. He enjoys spending time with family, cycling and music.

I understand Dr.Garcia may not be working with Medical Center in the near future. I hate that this may be happening.. He is very kind and listens carefully to my daughters and my concerns and questions. He follows and wants the best for her ,(Julia')health and future living with rheumatoid arthritis. She has been a patient of Dr.Garcia's from when he first joined with Medical Center. If he leaves Nacogdoches it will certainly be a shame for all of his patients. Medical Center should be very appreciative and proud to have a rheumatologist present, in the flesh, and a very good physician. Julia was Diagnosed at 14 months and after being with Shrines hospital in Dallas. Julia started seeing Dr. Garcia and he has taken very good care of her., I personally have recommended Dr. Garcia to several people. And I'm pretty picky.My father was a physician and I expect good care and respect for the patient. And that is what you get with Dr. Garcia.

Dr. Garcia-Cavazos, as always, was thorough in his examination, responded with kindness, patience, and in-depth knowledge to all of my questions. Similarly, he explained the implications of x-rays I had recently had taken of my left knee which has been having symptoms very similar to my right knee (that recently underwent a partial replacement). Often I have wished that Dr. Garcia-Cabazos were able to be my primary care physician. He is the best!Again, this is why I am devastated that you have decided to close this practice.

The practice is set up in a way that promotes patient privacy. Dr. Garcia has been and continues to be sensitive to all of my medical needs. It should go without saying that all staff protect the safety of the patients in this practice. They are a team that all works so well together. Dr. Garcia once again, treated me respectfully, with patience and kindness and did not rush our conversation. He and Maria have both been excellent providers in this regard. I think in the past, I was confused and did not know the right questions to ask. This week's visit provided the best discussion and therefore ended with the clearest understanding of my risks associated with biologic while on treatment for exposure to TB, and those risks compared to the risks of no RA treatment, etc. I appreciate Dr. Garcia's patience with me as I have tried to understand the TB component as communicated from the Health Department and so many different physicians in my pool of care.

I love Dr. Garcia, he really listens and helps me with my disease process. Once, we came to a diagnosis I am not sure he ever really told me what could or would happen in the long run. But, I was already familiar from the research I did myself. I know he seemed more concerned about helping me. I have only seen the NP once, I don't feel like she cared or listened as much as he did.
