Interpretive Language Service

Effective communication can be a challenge when serving a limited English proficient (LEP) patient. In order to serve our entire community, we utilize the following to ensure very patient receives the service, care, and quality Nacogdoches Medical Center has come to be known for. 

All LEP patients have their preferred language identified upon registration, and their rooms are flagged to ensure we have a communication assistance plan in place prior to entering the room. 

Telephone Assistance Line: Dual-handset phones are available to provide 24/7 access to certified healthcare interpreters for 180 languages. These phones allow the care-giver and patient nearly instantaneous interpretation without having to hand a phone back and forth. 

Remote Video Language Assistance: Mobile laptop and iPad setups allow the patient and care-giver to see the interpreter. Video assistance is available for 26 languages
