Nacogdoches, Texas, May 13, 2022 – Nacogdoches Medical Center (NMC) has earned another  ‘A’ grade in the Spring 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Safety survey, a national distinction recognizing NMC’s achievements providing safer health care. The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization committed to health care quality and safety. The Safety Grade is a letter grade assigned to hospitals across the country and updated every six months, assessing how well the hospital prevents medical errors and other harm to patients.

“We are so proud to again achieve an ‘A’ rating recognizing our continuous commitment to placing safety at the forefront of our patients’ care,” said Jeff Patterson, NMC Health Network CEO. “This is a testament to the hard work and team effort going on in our hospital on behalf of our patients and the community.”

Developed under the guidance of a national expert council, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year.

“Nacogdoches Medical Center’s physicians and employees are to be commended for their ongoing and steadfast efforts that have made this achievement possible,” said Modupe Sokunbi, MD, NMC Chief of Staff. “Their continued attention to safety and quality metrics means our patients can be confident in the care delivered at NMC.”

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Nacogdoches Medical Center for their tremendous dedication, to safety,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We hope this ‘A’ helps to thank the people who work for NMC. They are role models in putting patients first.”

The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public. For more information go to: www.hospitalsafetygrade.com.
