Nurse Residency Program

At Nacogdoches Medical Center, we're here to help you get your nursing career started on the right foot. Our Nurse Residency Program provides a structured experience that allows newly graduated RNs to begin their career with confidence. Our goal is to give you the orientation, hands-on experience and knowledge you'll need to start your journey to exceptional bedside care.

Our 12 to 16-week course includes both hospital and specialty-specific orientation, leadership and socialization experiences and the opportunity to achieve competency in many areas of nursing practice, including acute-care regulatory requirements, interpersonal and critical thinking skills and the technical proficiency required for your chosen clinical area.

The course includes:

  • Evidence-based practice
  • Education and training
  • Dedicated preceptors
  • Networking and looping

The NMC Residency Program offers residents the opportunity to build relationships with employees in all disciplines through looping experiences:

  • Lab
  • Pharmacy & Radiology
  • ER
  • Surgery & Recovery
  • Wound Care
  • Case Management
  • And more!

The NMC Nurse Residency Program promotes team collaboration between physicians and nursing staff. Physicians share best practices and knowledge through presentations related to their specialties. This allows opportunities for questions and encourages physician and nursing staff interactions.
