For more than 50 years, Nacogdoches Medical Center has provided communities throughout the region with compassionate, award-winning healthcare.

Those efforts have been recognized by our patients with a four-star rating through the results of inpatient surveys recorded by the U.S Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, making NMC the highest-rated hospital by recent patients in Nacogdoches and the surrounding area (25-mile radius).

According to information on www.medicare.gov, a hospital’s patient survey rating measures patients' experiences of their care. To generate the rating, recent patients were asked about important topics like how well nurses and doctors communicated and treated patients, the cleanliness of the facility, and how well staff prepared patients to continue their care after they were discharged from the hospital.

The survey, called the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems, asks a random selection of recently discharged patients about their hospital experience in the following areas:

• Communication with doctors
• Communication with nurses
• Responsiveness of hospital staff
• Cleanliness of the hospital
• Quietness of the hospital
• Communication about medicines
• Discharge information
• Care transition
• Overall rating of hospital
• Willingness to recommend hospital

NMC scored higher than the national average on overall rating of the hospital, communication with nurses, communication with doctors, and quietness of the hospital.
