NMC Health Network Launches Nacogdoches Medical Center – South Campus

Tue August 11, 2026

After months of planning and preparation, the NMC Health Network launched the new Nacogdoches Medical Center – South Campus and NMC Health Network Cecil R. Bomar Inpatient Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday, August 11.

NMC CEO Jeff Patterson said NMC teams have been working tirelessly to ensure a safe and patient-focused transition at the new campus.

“We have walked this path together—deliberately, transparently, and with a commitment to doing things the right way for the long term,” he said. “Our goal from the beginning has been clear: Create a foundation strong enough to support the next generation of healthcare in Nacogdoches”.

In addition to inpatient rehabilitation services, Nacogdoches Medical Center – South Campus will have a wide array of services available at launch, including emergency services, medical-surgical inpatient bed services, and all ancillary operations required to support safe, high-quality care.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Nacogdoches County Hospital District Board of Directors, the NMC Health Network Board of Directors, Tenet Healthcare, and — most importantly — the Nacogdoches community. Your support, patience, and belief in the future of this hospital have made this work possible,” he said.

Nacogdoches Medical Center has been serving the Nacogdoches community for more than 50 years and is the largest provider of care for the community.

NMC exclusively offers maternal and neonatal care with Level II Special Care Nursery and Maternal designations from the Texas Department of State Health Services. The hospital is the only Primary Stroke Center in Nacogdoches. It is a Joint Commission Certified Chest Pain Center and offers Level IV Trauma Care as well as a Joint Commission Certified Total Joint Program.

Since laying the groundwork for Nacogdoches Medical Center - South Campus, the NMC Health Network team has been working diligently to ensure appropriate staffing levels at the new campus. To date, more than 200 positions have been filled across a wide variety of areas, ranging from direct patient care to ancillary services.

“It has taken a true team of physicians, nurses, ancillary, and support staff to make this transition a success,” Patterson said. “We look forward to continuing our culture of collaboration as NMC Health Network continues to evolve and expand to serve the community we all love.”

Ongoing expansions and renovations help ensure that NMC provides Nacogdoches and East Texas with the high-quality care and wide range of services that are critical to the health of the community, Patterson said.

“As we take this next step, it truly is just the beginning. We are unlocking the medical infrastructure that will carry Nacogdoches into the future — one built intentionally, strengthened thoughtfully, and expanded with purpose,” he said. “I am excited for what lies ahead: Enhanced services, modernized facilities, and a healthcare system designed to meet the needs of our community for decades to come.”
