Wound Care Center at Nacogdoches Medical Center again earns National Recognition for Patient Care, Operational Excellence
Nacogdoches – The Wound Care Center at Nacogdoches Medical Center has again earned national recognition for its outstanding patient care and helping local residents heal their chronic wounds, continuing to build upon its legacy of award-winning care.
Healogics®, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services, recently recognized NMC’s Wound Care Center as its Center of the Year for the organization’s West and National Accounts Divisions, reflecting the wound care center’s commitment to patient-centered care and healing excellence.
In addition to the prestigious honor, NMC’s Wound Care Center also earned the Healogics® President’s Circle Award, and the Center of Distinction. NMC’s Wound Care Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for twelve consecutive months, including a patient satisfaction rate higher than 92 percent. The NMC Wound Care Center has scored in the top 10 percent of eligible Healogics® Wound Care Centers® on the Clinical Excellence measure, which is the comprehensive healing rate weighted by wound mix. This award is named for Dr. Robert A. Warriner III, a pioneer in wound care, and the former Chief Medical Officer for Healogics.
Previously, Healogics® awarded the NMC Wound Care Center the Center of Distinction-Patient Satisfaction Award, the Robert A. Warriner, M.D., Clinical Excellence Award, and the organization’s most prestigious award recognizing the top wound care centers that achieve clinical and operational excellence – the President’s Circle Award.
The accolades are a testament to the exceptional care and dedication demonstrated by the Wound Center’s physicians, leaders, and clinicians, said Jeff Patterson, Nacogdoches Medical Center CEO.
“The continued recognition of our wound care center is tangible evidence of the intense spirit of collaboration and teamwork we have worked hard to build at Nacogdoches Medical Center for more than 50 years,” he said. “By working together, we are able to provide the highest quality care for our community, leading to better clinical outcomes and improved quality of life for our patients.”
Advanced wound care plays a critical role in caring for patients throughout the region. There are already millions of people throughout the United States living with chronic wounds. Those numbers are rising, fueled by an aging population and increasing rates of diseases and conditions such as diabetes, obesity and the late effects of radiation therapy. If left untreated, chronic wounds can lead to diminished quality of life and possibly amputation of the affected limb. Even more alarmingly, 50 percent of people die within five years of amputation.
Dr. Marian Kathleen Querry, DO, Medical Director for the Nacogdoches Medical Center Wound Care Center, said the awards signify the high-quality care patients have come to expect from the NMC Wound Care Center since it opened in 2012.
